What drives cohesion among Jews, despite their countless differences of opinion? God? The Holidays? Shabbat, and the traditions? Anti-Semitism? Solidarity with Israel? Is it their humor and their ability to laugh at themselves? Do secular Jews have a truly Jewish identity?  So what does being Jewish mean?


Senior Jewish citizens over 80, residing (at the time of photography) at the care center Beth Shalom in Amsterdam, offer various surprising answers to these questions.
